6.1 The weekly meeting

6.1.1 Every chapter meets once a week for 60 minutes at a fixed time and place. The meeting is open to seekers, with no sign-up and no introduction needed.

6.1.2 The 60 minutes are divided as follows:

6.1.3 墨辩 follows three rules from the Lesser Selection: define the terms you use; state the 故, the reason for your claim; and test it by 类, analogy — find a like case and see whether the conclusion still holds. The moderator may stop a contribution that breaks these rules. (Test: precedent)

6.1.4 The point of 墨辩 is to make the reasoning clear, not to win. At the end the moderator names no winner; they summarize the strongest point made on each side.

6.1.5 There are no rituals, no singing, no oaths, and no collection at any meeting. If anyone solicits money or sells anything at a meeting, the person conducting stops it. Giving happens only in the ways set out in chapter 9.

6.1.6 The chapter lead conducts the meeting or names someone to conduct. The conductor's job is to keep time and keep the rules, not to lecture.

6.2 The monthly meeting

6.2.1 The first meeting of each month is the 月会 monthly meeting. It is still 60 minutes; the 20 minutes of Three Tests review and assignment reports in 6.1.2 are replaced with:

• members' sharing — one or two sentences each on what they did this month to benefit others;
• welcoming new Mohists, chapter 3, 3.1.5;
• the treasurer reading aloud the month's Care Fund income, spending, and balance;
• announcing new assignments and care-pair rotations.

6.2.2 The fund figures read aloud are entered in the member app at the same time. Members may question the treasurer at the meeting or afterward.

6.2.3 The monthly meeting is where the chapter votes: electing the chapter lead, approving a split proposal, adopting local arrangements. Notice of a vote is given seven days ahead.

6.3 The Assembly

6.3.1 The 兼爱大会 Assembly is held twice a year, in the June and December weeks of the 每周一篇 schedule. It is a Community-wide event; every chapter watches together in its usual meeting slot that week.

6.3.2 The Assembly consists of three or four talks by Mohists invited by the Council, each no longer than 20 minutes, with the text published in advance; the annual or half-year Care Fund report; the membership report; and whatever elections chapter 4 requires.

6.3.3 The Assembly is streamed, with recordings and transcripts made available afterward. Speakers use their own language, with Chinese and English subtitles.

6.3.4 Delegates who vote in Assembly elections are chosen by each chapter, one per 20 Mohists, with every chapter having at least one. Delegates receive candidate materials before the Assembly.

6.3.5 There is no 墨辩 in Assembly week. Chapters may use any remaining time to discuss the talks.

6.4 The region conference

6.4.1 Each region holds a one-day conference once a year, organized by the region lead: exchange of experience between chapters, the year's 非攻 Corps review, training for chapter leads, and whatever region elections chapter 4 requires.

6.4.2 The conference is paid for from the region budget, and no fee is charged. Travel and lodging for those coming from far away may be subsidized from the Care Fund under chapter 9.

6.5 Online meetings

6.5.1 Online chapters keep the same length and division of time as in-person chapters. The conductor makes sure everyone has a chance to speak; both sides in 墨辩 keep their cameras on.

6.5.2 An in-person chapter may offer a remote link to members who cannot attend for a time. This is not the norm; if a Mohist has joined only remotely for four weeks running, the chapter lead checks how they are.

6.5.3 Meetings are not video-recorded. With the consent of everyone present, an audio recording may be made for absent members and kept for no more than 30 days. (Test: evidence)

6.6 Children and accessibility

6.6.1 Children are welcome at the weekly meeting. The chapter sets aside a quiet corner for them, and the youth lead arranges a rota to supervise it. No parent is asked to leave because they brought a child.

6.6.2 Chapters choose a step-free meeting place, or state clearly what its access is like. Aids that a member with a hearing or visual impairment needs are paid for by the treasurer from the chapter fund.

6.6.3 Meetings are held in the main language of the local members. Where a member does not share it, the reading lead arranges a parallel translation or an interpreter.

6.6.4 A member who cannot attend because of health, caring responsibilities, or work remains a Mohist. Their care partner keeps in touch.
